SUGGESTED APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR THE 4SEASONS® POURABLE PAVEMENT REPAIR KIT
  • PRODUCT IS MEANT FOR PAVEMENT VOIDS AND CRACK FILLING. THERE MUST BE PROPER PREPARATION AND ASSESSMENT OF REPAIR, PRIOR TO APPLICATION. THIS IS NOT A SEALCOAT OR TOPCOAT FINISH. PRODUCT MUST HAVE INTACT PAVEMENT EDGE TO BOND TO. GRAVEL BASE VOIDS MUST BE FILLED WITH 3-4”  OF THIS  PRODUCT FOR ULTIMATE PRODUCT PERFORMANCE. A ‘DELAMINATED ASPHALT’ PAVEMENT VOID, WHERE BASE LAYER IS INTACT, SHOULD FIRST BE PRIMED WITH 4Seasons® Bond Primer  PRIOR TO FILLING WITH 4Seasons® Pavement Repair Filler FLUSH WITH TOP EDGE. CEMENT REPAIR AREAS,  MUST BE PROPERLY CLEANED AND SEALED WITH 4Seasons® Bond Primer, BEFORE COMPLETING  REPAIR. SETUP TIME IS DEPENDENT ON TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY, TYPICALLY 10-40 MINUTES.

  • ANY USE OTHER THAN STATED WILL VOID GUARANTEE/WARRANTY.

A pothole is defined as: a 24”x12”x2-3" void in asphalt or concrete pavement (avg 576-864 cu in).

Note: Before use, assess the particular repair situation. Preparation of repair area must be done prior to mixing liquid and aggregate, as work time of product is 5 minutes. *Calcium chloride, salts, or de-icers MUST BE REMOVED prior to application. Immediately upon mixing, product must be poured into hole or repair area. **For Warranty Coverage ALL repair areas must be primed with 4Seasons® Bond Primer first.

  • Potholes: First step in filling any pothole is to estimate the size, and how much material is needed to fill the voids. The entire contents of #5Kit of liquid and aggregate, when mixed as instructed, will yield aprox 900 cu inches of filler. NOTE: 12”x12”x1”= 144 cu inches. Lesser amounts may be portioned out for smaller repair needs. Use direct ratios: i.e. 50% liquid to 50% aggregate. Use a smaller disposable pail if partial mixing is required. Pail will not be reusable. Re-cap unused liquid and close aggregate bag for future use. 4Seasons® Bond Primer must be applied to all intact surfaces to be repaired prior to application of filler.  If more product is needed to repair area, repeat application procedure while poured material is still wet. 4Seasons® Bond Primer must be applied to dried repair filler prior to adding additional filler. Prepare the hole for the fill material. Sweep out loose debris, being careful to remove sand and gravel that is at the edge where product sealing must occur. Larger pieces of concrete or asphalt may be placed in bottom of hole to help fill space and reduce product amount. 3-4” filler depth is recommended. Sand is not recommended to fill hole, as product needs appropriate surface to adhere to. *Wash any trace of calcium chloride, and other de-icers, visible grease and oil from surface. Prime asphalt & cement repairs with 4Seasons® Bond Primer. Next, prepare fill material according to instructions on pail; pouring product into prepared hole; leveling product with stir stick or cement trowel if needed; assuring product is in good contact with the edge of the pothole. If repair edge is open, with no adjacent pavement to hold repair material, form boards must be made from wood or similar substance wrapped in plastic to release the form once product is cured. Place wrapped form boards on edge of repair area and secure with stakes on outside of board. Use cement trowel to level poured product to boards and surrounding surfaces. Remove form boards immediately after 4Seasons® begins to set up. Let the material set up and become firm before resuming traffic, usually between 10-40 minutes. Hotter climates will produce shorter working times. Colder or winter climates cause product to set up more slowly, although winter weather should not hamper the use or effectiveness of 4Seasons®, when applied as directed.

  • Alligator Cracks: Alligator cracks are a series of cracks in close proximity over a given area, like a spider's web. This patching method can be used in parking areas (not high traffic areas) where the stone in the blacktop is present, but the emulsion has pulled away and is about 1/8"-1/4" below stone. This patch will be thin, but long lasting when applied properly and can extend the life of the pavement surface and postpone a major repaving job. Again, estimate material needed and assess the situation for proper fill of area. Begin by removing sand and debris and ALL LOOSE PAVEMENT from area of repair with shovel, leaf blower, or power washer. Wash any trace of calcium chloride, and other de-icers, visible grease and oil from surface. Dry area with leaf blower to ensure all water is removed from surface and area is completely dry. Prime the entire DRY repair area (both cement and asphalt) with 4Seasons® Bond Primer, covering entire repair surface. Mix liquid and aggregate in pail according to directions on pail. Pour product over pre-primed repair surface, using trowel or squeegee to cover entire area ensuring that the cracks are filled. Leave at least a ¼” depth of product over pavement surface to seal pavement repair. Lesser depths may wear away, but product will remain in the cracks and voids of the repair.  (For areas larger than 3' x 3' it is recommended to saw cut, remove broken asphalt, and repave.)

  • Cracks: 4Seasons® can be used for cracks ranging from 1/4" on up. Estimate material needed and assess the situation for proper fill of area. Remove sand and debris from repair area. *Wash any trace of calcium chloride, and other de-icers, visible grease and oil from surface. For best results, prime cement repair area with 4Seasons® Bond Primer. If the crack is narrow, you will need to reduce the amount of aggregate that you add to liquid in order to achieve a product thin enough to pour and penetrate deep into the crack. In this situation, mixing 4Seasons® in a smaller disposable container will work just fine. Start by pouring 2" of liquid into pail. Mix in slowly, a small amount of aggregate to achieve a pourable consistency. Pour into crack and level off, ensuring that good contact between the edge of the crack and the 4Seasons® product has been made. Any remaining liquid and aggregate must be used in like manner. Product initially comes proportioned for successful pothole filling. Using partial amounts, as in dealing with cracks, causes the remaining product ratios to be unbalanced. It will not be successful for pothole filling.

  • Concrete: To fill holes and repair spalded concrete with 4Seasons®, the procedures are the same as above. Estimate the material needed and assess the situation for proper fill of area. Begin by removing sand and debris from area of repair by power washing. *Wash any trace of calcium chloride, and other de-icers, visible grease and oil from surface. Dry area with leaf blower to ensure all water is removed from surface and are is completely dry. Prime the entire DRY repair area with 4Seasons® Bond Primer, covering entire repair surface. Let dry. Mix liquid and aggregate in pail and pour product into hole or crack, using cement trowel or disposable board to level out and insure smooth surface. Product appearance is asphalt black.

  • Non-level Surfaces: 4Seasons® can be used for non-level surfaces such as sidewalks that lift; where one edge may be 1/2"-3" above surrounding surface edge. Estimate material amount needed. Assess the situation for proper fill of area. Begin by removing sand and debris from area of repair by power washing. *Wash any trace of calcium chloride, and other de-icers, visible grease and oil from surface. Dry area with leaf blower to ensure all water is removed from surface and area is completely dry. Prime the entire DRY area with 4Seasons® Bond Primer, covering entire repair surface. Mix liquid and aggregate in pail. Pour product into repair area. Use cement trowel to ensure surface edge contact with product and smooth finish. If more product is needed to complete the repair, repeat application. 4Seasons® will adhere to itself while wet. If repair edge is open, with no adjacent pavement to hold repair material, form boards must be made of wood or similar substance wrapped in plastic to release from 4Seasons® once repair is cured. Place wrapped form boards on edge of repair area and secure with stakes on outside of board. Use cement trowel to level poured product to boards and surrounding surfaces. Remove form boards immediately after 4Seasons® begins to set up.
